Top grade BRC certification for new Burnley Bridge warehouse

A north-west logistics specialist has achieved the top AA rating for the British Retail Consortium Distribution and Warehousing standard for its new warehouse at Burnley Bridge.

The BRC (British Retail Consortium) certification is a global standard, providing an essential certification link between the range of BRC manufacturing standards and the end user, the retailer and the food service company. The standard promotes continuous improvement in operating practices and is designed to ensure best practice in handling storage and distribution of products.

Having designed and built the 19 metres high, 92,000 sq. ft. warehouse facility, providing 25,000 pallet locations, parking for up to 80 trailers and 10 loading bays, Fagan & Whalley Ltd. embarked on the certification process as soon as the new facility opened in September 2017. This was not a simple renewal of the existing 20,000sq ft. facility at Padiham but a complete start from scratch, new warehouse, new audit, new certification project so that existing BRC-certified customers could continue to store their products with confidence, knowing that a seamless transfer had taken place.

Martyn Richardson: Compliance Manager for Fagan & Whalley commented: “We are delighted that we have been able to transfer our existing BRC certification to the new warehouse at Burnley Bridge.”

Sam Fagan: Projects Manager for Fagan & Whalley added: “There has been a massive effort by the whole team to transfer our customers stock to the new facility and the certification is testament to the hard work of the whole team.”

Fagan & Whalley are able to provide increased and improved storage and co-packing options to satisfy existing and new customer requirements.
