Here at Fagan & Whalley, our commitment to sustainability is unwavering. We’re constantly on the lookout for the most cutting-edge, eco-friendly technologies to make our fleet more efficient and sustainably responsible. So, with great excitement, we announce the newest addition to our lineup – the Scania Super Powertrain.
The Super Powertrain isn’t just another engine. It’s Scania’s most fuel-efficient and advanced combustion engine powertrain to date and a game-changer for us. Outperforming the already impressive current-generation Scania engines, it boasts an 8% reduction in diesel consumption – meaning it doesn’t just surpass industry standards, but sets new ones as well.
Let’s delve into how this new investment aligns with our goals and values here at Fagan & Whalley…
Increasing our sustainability
By integrating the Scania Super Powertrain, we’re enhancing our operations today and preparing to meet tomorrow’s increasingly stringent emission targets. The new engine is compatible with renewable fuels like Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil (HVO) and paves the way for potentially slashing our CO2 emissions by an incredible 90% compared to traditional diesel.
In addition, the new vehicles achieve a fantastic 15% reduction in overall diesel consumption compared to our older de-fleeted previous generation Scania vehicles. This again, demonstrates our commitment to adopting more sustainable business practices.
Reducing how often we replace our vehicles
But we’re not just about saving fuel and reducing diesel consumption – we’re also about achieving maximum longevity and efficiency in our operations, making longer-term, responsible investments that are better for the planet.
The Scania Super Powertrain is designed with a lifespan 30% longer than previous models whilst also requiring fewer maintenance checks. This extends the lifespan of our fleet and reduces how often we need to replace vehicles, and aligns closely with our core values of doing the right thing for our environment.
Enhanced road safety
Additionally, the new additions to our fleet adhere to strict Direct Vision Standards (DVS) legislation, meaning each vehicle offers enhanced visibility to drivers so they can clearly see nearby pedestrians and cyclists. This demonstrates our commitment to promoting road safety throughout the UK.
Increasing driver comfort
Finally, we’re investing not just in our vehicles but in our people, too. With people at the heart of what we do – it’s important to us that our team feels valued, comfortable and invested in their careers here at Fagan & Whalley. That’s why we greatly emphasise providing our team with the resources they need to succeed.
Alongside ongoing driver comfort amenities such as fridges, coffee machines and microwaves for our drivers, the new vehicles also offer enhanced drivability and a smoother ride in general. This supports our mission to prioritise the comfort and well-being of our team, enhancing their daily operations and ensuring their contentment whilst at work.
Daniel Fagan’s thoughts…
Managing Director, Daniel Fagan, had this to say: “This investment means much more than a few new vehicles to us. It’s a testament to our commitment towards sustainability, safety and the welfare of our drivers. While we continue to explore alternative fuels as part of our long-term goal of reaching Net Zero, we recognise the importance of taking action today, too.”
“At Fagan & Whalley, we continuously strive to stay ahead of the curve by investing in advanced and innovative technologies for our team members. These investments define our operational excellence and shape a safer, more sustainable future for us all.”
