At Fagan & Whalley, we’re committed to reducing our impact on the environment wherever possible. We are constantly seeking ways to reduce our environmental footprint in every aspect of our business. So, it’s with great excitement that we announce we have officially signed the Operation Clean Sweep pledge in collaboration with the British Plastics Federation.
What is Operation Clean Sweep?
Operation Clean Sweep (OCS) is a significant global initiative focused on preventing the leakage of plastic granules, flakes, and powders into the environment, particularly waterways and oceans. It’s a stewardship program designed for companies involved in the handling of these materials, encouraging them to adopt best practices to contain and manage plastic materials responsibly.
Why are we supporting the British Plastics Federation?
By signing the Operation Clean Sweep pledge in collaboration with the British Plastics Federation, we are demonstrating our commitment to environmental sustainability and to playing a part in solving the global challenge of plastic pollution.
Our Managing Director – Commercial, Sam Fagan, said: “As a team, we’re really excited to have gotten involved in this initiative. We see this as a natural progression of our existing environmental policies, underscoring our proactive approach to reducing the ecological footprint our operations have on our planet. It backs up our commitment to controlling spills correctly when we’re transporting polymers, such as oils and chemicals.”
“We’re in good company, too! There are over 300 other organisations that have also signed the Operation Clean Sweep Pledge, and we’re confident that many more will follow.”
What else are we doing to support the environment?
Whilst this pledge is the first of its kind to directly address the impact of plastic loss into the environment, at Fagan & Whalley, we’ve been dedicated to playing our part in sustainability efforts for many years. Whether that be through investing in more efficient technology, optimising our routing, or reducing empty-running or recycling – we are consistently exploring solutions to enhance our environmental performance. Each of these supports our overarching values of championing greener initiatives to create a bright future for the next generation.
