On the 4th of July, the Fagan & Whalley team were deeply honoured to have been named both Employer of the Year and Large Business of the Year at the prestigious Burnley Business Awards, 2024.
Held at the Crow Wood Hotel in our magnificent home town, the glitzy, black-tie event saw over 600 attendees gather to celebrate the very best of local business and entrepreneurship.
The evening, which was organised by Burnley Council and headline sponsored by Burnley College, was an incredible opportunity for several members of the Fagan & Whalley team to let our hair down and celebrate just how far we’ve come in our almost 100-year heritage.
And what a night we had!
Up against several other nominees, we were thrilled to find out that we had won not only the Large Business of the Year Award, but also the Employer of the Year Award.
Managing Director, Sam Fagan, commented, “Winning these awards is a true testament to the hard work, dedication and passion of every member of the Fagan & Whalley family. It might sound cliched, but people truly are at the heart of what we do.
“The nature of the logistics industry means that uniting a team can be challenging when our drivers are out on the roads, scattered all over the country, and often without the close day-to-day contact that many other businesses enjoy. Because of that, we’ve always strived to create an environment where our employees feel valued and empowered, and to have this recognised through the Employer of the Year Award is very encouraging.
“Being named Large Business of the Year is equally humbling, especially given the incredibly strong competition. Reflecting on our journey from Fagan & Whalley’s beginnings in 1927, when we delivered coal around East Lancashire on a horse-drawn cart, to now being a key player in the UK’s logistics industry is truly remarkable. We’re grateful to have our efforts recognised, and we couldn’t be prouder of our team and our journey.
“As a company, we have always been incredibly appreciative of the rich, vibrant community that surrounds us here in Lancashire. We’re privileged to have celebrated the success of so many other local businesses, partners and associates – and extend a huge congratulations to all of the other nominees and winners.”
