Georgina wins bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games 2022!

A huge congratulations to our Warehouse Customer Service Manager, Georgina Nelthorpe, who has bagged herself a bronze medal in wrestling at the Commonwealth Games, 2022.

This is the second year Georgina has won a bronze medal whilst representing England at the Commonwealth Games, following her previous success during the 2018 games.

This time around, during the 76kg freestyle event, Georgina beat Sierra Leone’s Madsdu Koroma after a fall pinned her shoulders, in less than thirty seconds!

“The whole experience was overwhelming; I couldn’t believe I’d beat my opponent so quickly,” says Georgina.

After falling in love with wrestling while living in Canada for nine years, Georgina was encouraged to take up the sport by her school teachers. When she moved back to the North West in 2016, she pursued the sport at local clubs, with dreams of representing her country nationally.

It didn’t take long for her dreams to come true, as she won her first bronze medal during the 2018 Commonwealth Games, before being the only person in England to be awarded a medal at the European Wrestling U23 championships in 2019.

For those that know Georgina closely, her success comes as no surprise, as we witness the hard work and determination she puts into her training on a daily basis.

“I train every day, on and off the mat, with a minimum of two hours a day, four days a week on the mat, and the rest of the time in the gym,” explains Georgina, “the pride I feel having won a bronze medal for the England team is unreal.”

“Since day one, I’ve always wanted to be an Olympian and bring home the gold medal for England, so I’ve got my eyes on the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris!”

We have a feeling that the next couple of years are going to be exceptionally busy for Georgina, and we can’t wait to watch her success unfold!
