2023 wrap-up

Our 2023 Wrap-Up!

As 2023 comes to a close and we reflect on the year gone by, we’re proud of the accomplishments, achievements and partnerships that have allowed us to continue delivering the highest level of service to our valued customers.

This year, as always, our people have been at the very heart of our success. So to everyone who has been a part of our journey, from every corner of our internal operations to our extended network of clients, partners and the local community – we’d like to thank you for your efforts and support.

Join us in taking a moment to look back at some of the key highlights and stories that have defined this year for us…

Fagan & whalley and ebp

Celebrating our partnership with EBP Building Products

In May, our long-standing partnership with EBP Building Products reached a new milestone with the unveiling of a new liveried trailer adorned with EBP’s branding and slogan. This collaboration not only strengthened our ties with our client (who have worked with us for over 13 years!) but also helped to enhance EBP’s visibility across the UK.

Ukwa awards

Recognition at the UKWA Awards for Excellence

As summer rolled around, our commitment to exceptional customer service was celebrated – as we were honoured to be a finalist for the ‘Customer Service’ award at the UKWA Awards for Excellence in June. Whilst we didn’t win, being recognised among the top service providers in the UK warehousing sector is a testament to our team’s dedication and our longstanding emphasis on customer satisfaction. This acknowledgement reinforces our commitment to continue providing outstanding service and upholding our core values in warehousing and logistics.

Reducing our carbon footprint with Linde Forklifts

Then, in our ongoing pursuit of sustainability, we were pleased to have seen a significant stride forward by introducing Linde Material Handling forklifts at our Burnley Bridge warehouse. This shift to lithium-ion battery technology not only reduced our carbon emissions but also streamlined our operations – and led to a substantial decrease of 11,930kg in CO2 emissions, a fantastic milestone in our environmental efforts.

Advancing road safety with Transaid in Zambia

By September, we were ready to announce a project that had been in the works for a long time! In our commitment to increasing global road safety, we proudly partnered with Transaid to do something we’d never done before. By donating and transporting one of our de-fleeted vehicles over 7,000 miles from Lancashire to Zambia, we’re proud to have directly contributed to safer roads across the region whilst also creating new career opportunities in rural Africa.

Truckfest trophes september 2023

Triumph at TruckFest North West

Next, our team’s passion for our fleet of vehicles was celebrated at TruckFest North West later in September, where we received two First Place trophies and a Third Place trophy. This recognition underlines our team’s commitment and the pride we take in our fleet and services. We couldn’t be prouder of those involved, including Gary Masterman, Ron Hope, Sam Jones, Sam Fagan and, of course – our resident truck enthusiast – David Weston!

Frontier park warehouse storage

Upholding excellence in food safety and hygiene

Another notable achievement this year was retaining our AA-grade rating from BRCGS at our Frontier Park and Burnley Bridge sites. This accomplishment reflects our unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest standards in food safety and hygiene, assuring our clients and end-consumers of the quality and safety of our services.

Cycling from london to paris

Celebrating Transaid’s 25th anniversary by cycling from London to Paris!

Meanwhile, on September 25th, four of our team members, Sam, Laura, Stephen, and Graham Fagan, triumphantly completed the 187-mile journey from London to Paris as part of Transaid’s 25th Anniversary Cycle Challenge. Joined by over 40 riders from the transport and logistics industry, they embarked on this three-day challenge, journeying through some of the most beautiful landscapes from the UK to France – all to raise vital funds for Transaid. In total – the entire team raised more than £65,000 for the charity. We couldn’t be prouder to have taken part!

Looking forward to 2024…

Sam Fagan, Managing Director – Commercial, commented, “It really has been a brilliant year, and as we look back, we’re reminded that it is our continuous commitments to our people, our communities (far and wide!) and our innovation that we’re able to grow and succeed.”

“2023 has been a difficult year for many across the country. However, we remain optimistic that by working together with our clients, communities and colleagues, we can continue forging strong partnerships, enhancing road safety and maintaining the highest standards in our services.”
